Quarter round that bends and is plyable

As I am getting closer to putting the laminate floor in my airstream I wanted to share with you a product that I used on my stairs in my house. This is called flex trim. It looks and stains like real wood and it will wrap around an airstream base with easy. Check out the site and check out the quarter round on my stairs where the tread meets the wall. You will see how it bends. My friend thought I used bamboo on my stairs. I used a gel stain on the quarter round and put it on heavy.

Actually, you can bend regular pine quarter round pretty easily. We did it not just with quarter round, but also with big 2" round for a curved staircase. Just soak the wood plenty long enough! (We soaked it in the irrigation ditch.)

If you use the irrigation ditch, be sure you chain the quarter round to a stationary object. Otherwise the beavers will drag it off.

Yes, no kidding! We had to tie down everything! On the positive side, the relatively swift current tended to keep the whole of the piece plenty wet.

(Of course, my big brother and I weren't able to throw my spoiled little brother into the ditch when we were soaking wood.)

You may want to consider removing the cabinetry, less tha an hour with a screw gun, and installing the floor under everthing. This gives a clean look and makes installation easy having not to cut around things. If you go this path just drill a 1 in. hole through the floor at each point you are going to screw down things. This alows the flooring to float as per the manufacture.

Yes I did use 1/4 round along the face of the sink but that is under the toe kick and not seen.

I started in the center and worked to both sides after having drawn a sketch of the flooring layout to make sure there was not a strange cut at either side.

Ok HowieE,

I gotta say, I am impressed that you can remove the cabinetry and in less than an hour. It took me an afternoon just to remove the fold-over sofa in my ’87 Excella. I still have the dinette to tackle.

Your results are absolutely beautiful!!!
