Pipe frame replacement

Looking at either restoring or replacing a pipe frame. I'd like to replace with a modern ladder frame. Who is making custom ladder frames in central CA or near by? Thank you.

Well.... a deep hole in the ground.

Well, you could buy the best arc welder made, take.a.metal fabricating and welding.course, buy the materials and laser levels, spend 6.months building your own frame.... and probably get it faster and less expensively than paying someone else whose skills are unknown. And you'd have a second lucrative career.

Area 53. Is your best bet if you aren't handy (or masochistic).

Thanks for that. A bit far for us. We'll be doing all the work except for the frame manufacturing so what I had in mind was someone who specializes in and does nothing but trailer frames metal fab etc. Thought I remembered on here years ago someone recommending a business like this.

Build your own frame. It really is a lot easier than I thought it would be. Get a good welder and scrap and start practicing.

Also - plasma cutter is worth every penny for making cuts.

greenrig, Contact Inland RV in Corona, Ca. They did lots of Airstream modifications for many years and also built out special trailer mods like a big toaster mod for one I can think of, they may be able to build you a frame. I would also check with local to you welding or metal fabrication shops as well. Then too you will want to check with a trailer service shop about a new frame and axle(s). Being you are having a new frame made they may be able to advise you on what the requirements would be needed on the frame to mount new axle(s). Most shops will want to have old frame to get an idea of what your needs are.

Pipe frame replacement

Inland RV no longer has a service department of any sort. They only sell parts. Sadly, we don’t have an Airstream dealer (Southwest Coaches) in Corona any longer, either.

(I live in Corona)
