The fact that you're able to be posting those pictures today looks like a miracle based on the damage. I'm glad for that. Yes, bummed about your trailer which apparently you did a ton of work to - that has to be a hard blow. And yet still - I look at those pics and this could have ended very differently. Hard to grasp. Be well.

So sorry to hear about your bad accident, but happy to hear that you will be ok after the healing process. I can't imagine what you feel and are going through.

Don't let this ruin your dream. You can find another vintage Airstream.

Makes me sick that the Trooper chose to ignore the drinking.

Amen to these well-said words. Remarkable you are OK arktos, and thank you for the photos. Did a tall truck hit your AS's left rear corner to cause all that damage up so high?

Ark, So sorry to hear this unfortunate event. Be frugal with the pain meds. Start shopping for a truck and trailer for spring travels. Trust me, camping is the best physical therapy out there. Ark, you walked away?...you're one tough cowboy.

Being a commercial driver, too bad there wasn't an alcohol test given. The iron can be replaced, you are very fortunate, all you can do is to be thankful and stay upright,

Holy crapola! Get well, and sue the pants off of the other guy! Not normally litigious but considering the effort you put into that trailer and the trauma experienced make the other party pay deeply. That was a beautifully well done restoration.
No breathalyzer seems negligent on the part of the trooper.

Damn, just got through reading your full posting. What a surprise ending. I'm saddened. Speedy recovery and peace. Glad you only lost stuff. Important, meaningful stuff, but still just stuff.

Wow, Im so sorry for your loss and am glad you were able to walk away. I lost my 81 excella 2- 280 motor home which caught on fire when I was driving it. It's still hard to swallow after several years of restoring it. Unfortunately i hadnt got an insurance value after restoration and only was given 20K (didn't even break even) for the rig and my house insurance covered my contents for 10K. I tailgated with my rig so I had all my tailgating equipment in it. I hope you fare better than I did. I bought another but this time I opted for a travel trailer.

Again praying for a speedy recovery

OMG, Arktos! I'm so very sorry, but also so glad you will recover. You can get another rig, but not your life. Your trailer was beautiful, though and I know how much time you put into it.
I'm glad you're ok.

Your guardian angel was busy that day! Glad you're ok. If you fly home and need someone to pick you up at MSP, let us know.

As far as I could tell, the drunk hit me VERY hard at the water heater street side rear...under-cutting and causing my Airstream to tip onto its street side...taking further hits above the mid-line belt from the front of his F150 as it slid down the pavement... before flipping again and coming to a rest upright in the ditch. There was relatively little damage to the curb side. Can't get the sound of the massive hit out of my head. Just devastated! But convinced my Super Duty saved my life. All that extra headroom...if it hadn't been there, I wouldn't have made it.

Thanks for the update. Judging from the roof of the pickup, you may be right! Glad you are OK.

Thanks Thomas. Accident happened about 5 miles north of Edmond. The local highway patrol officers were busy with another accident, so the officer who responded was tasked out of Oklahoma City. He refused to do a field test. The wrecker guys (who were great) said they didn't know him, and openly commented on how callous, uncaring and lazy he was.

I'm so sorry for the pain you are going thru. I can't imagine what you have been going thru. Thank God you are still here and able to survive such a horrific accident. I hope you have a speedy recovery and the jerk who hit you is held accountable for his actions.

Hard to say right now, Thomas. A lot of dreams dashed...a lot of healing to be done. But if I did have another Airstream, I would probably want a 70's model that is useable as is...not have to gut it completely right away and start over. I feel like years of camping have been stripped from me...years that I might never get back.

I'm hoping you jump back on that horse asap.
Don't allow this to stop your dreams.
