Outrigger Orientation

The top flange of the outriggers on my AS all are towards the rear of the trailer from the outrigger. That is except those at the wheels and such. I need to order a few new ones and I noticed the pictures on the OODM site are opposite of mine. What they have labeled a street side outrigger has the flange towards the front of the trailer(as you look at it from the street). Here's the link...Outrigger,Open Road Side 410115 [410115] - $16.95 : ODMRV , Out-of-Doors Mart Are their pictures backwards or all my outriggers installed wrong? Does it actually matter which way the flange faces? I ask because they are out of stock on the curb side model. It looks like I could weld them on either way...yes?

I just bought a whole mess of out rigger from them. The lefts were lefts and the rights were correct. The flat side goes forward the flange goes toward the rear. The ones at the wheel wells are solid and the right side has the flange to the right and visa versa. I think they label it road side and curb side.

You know were are neighbors right? Like 15 minutes by car...

Thanks Frank...that means they have the pics reversed on the site. As I said they are out of stock for the street side, of which I need one. Do you think it matters if I just mount a curb side in reverse(frange forward)?

I have an extra curb side. Sorry that does not help. How bad is it? Could you weld in new metal where the original is rotted out.

Yeah...actually good idea. I'll just scab some sheet material to the face to reinforce it. Thanks for the help.

When I ordered mine, I called both OODM and Inland. Both told me that around the wheel well some of the lefts are right, and rights are left. The wheel well outrigger flanges point away from the wheel well.

I am not sure that was explained correctly. I will use this poor quality photo to illustrate how they should be...

You are looking at the street side rear of the out riggers here. The edge of the tire can just be seen to the left. The flat side of the outrigger faces the tire or wheel well opening. The flange goes to the outside of the wheel opening creating a flat face within the opening. Looking at the wheel well, there is a right and a left.

The hole on the rest of the out riggers is oriented so that the flat face goes forward and the flange is to the rear. These two are for the curb side. It is done this way on both sides from front to back.

Once the outriggers are fixed, do not forget the Por 15...

Hello, I just bought a 73 Sovereign, and being new to AS ownership, and having not welded in 30 years, I wanted to ask what you used to weld the frame, as I would need to purchase the proper welder. Arc, Gas, Mig?
Did you have your frame sand-blasted?

I used a Lincoln 140 MIG with flux core wire. The entire frame was very aggressively wire brushed. All bad metal cut out and new welded in. I love welding. Seeing the two surfaces turn to liquid and fuse together is really amazing to me.
