Is this a needed spacer for the floor boards?

I pulled off the floors today and found some of these L-shaped alluminum pieces. They sat almost exactly where you see that one, between the plywood pieces and U-Channel. I should have taken a picture, but the bad drawing will have to do.

It was not fastened in any way to the outrigger, wood, or U-Channels.

What purpose do you think these served?

I have never seen such a set up, in my almost 41 years.

Good

Thanks Andy, seeing how many people viewed this and didn't reply made me think it wasn't seen before.

I have no intentions of putting them back in with the new wood.

We actually removed something like this in the floor repair of our '59 Tradewind. Wonder if it's a Tradewind thing? It was curbside toward the front, but I don't think it went under the floor, just on top of floor and between c-channel sections and was attached to the foremost upright.

Yeah, it must be a '59 Tradewind thingy. Mine had four, one in each corner. I assume they are location tabs used to square up the frame before mounting the floor and dropping the shell.

Hope the OP wasn't waiting for an answer.
