I removed the rotted floor today!

I removed the rotted floor today in the 76 sovereign. I also removed a bunch of wall panels and the plastic end cap, to access some dents. I worked all day welding and repairing rusted out metal on the frame and I'm almost through with that section. I really got alot done today and enjoyed every bit, except the old insulation, that stuff makes me go into a coughing and sneezing fit. I was even suprised by the ease at which I popped out some dents. I've seen some of you putting in that foil insulation, could someone tell me what it is called and where I can get it. I've sent some pics of the floor and hope to send more soon.

Foils sources and details...

Check out the following thread for some detailed foil installation suggestions:

http://www.airforums.com/forum...cks-30196.html

I did not see any sources of the foil mentioned there so here are a couple notes about that:

I bought mine at Lowes and it is the Reflectix brand. Another source that I did not know about when I bought mine is:

Insulation 4 LESS

Their product is interesting in that the middle core is foam instead of air bubbles like the Reflectix foil. They also seem to sell in larger rolls so you would have to be a bit more carefull about figuring the amount you need. There prices may be cheaper. As I recall Reflectix foil is about 50 cents per square foot at Lowes in 4' x 25' rolls. Actually I just check the Lowes website and that is pretty close:

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...&Ntt=reflectix

Hope this helps,

Malcolm

P.S. Congratulations on your fast progress with the floor.

The foil bubble wrap will not dampen sound, the Insulation for less Foil-Foam-Foil does. I went for the large roll

Chris, I've been there and done that. It's great to get all that old wood out. It's also great to know you are on your way to restoration. Please keep up posted with lots of pictures and your ideas as work toward completion.
