hardwood subfloor

I have 3/4 inch oak tongue and groove flooring which is old and am convinced it would make a good subfloor and floor. Seems like it would be simpler to replace rotted original plywood, going athwartships and that the oak would be strong enough to support shell and interior using epoxy as glue and underneath. I guess the questions are expansion and moisture. I can't find mention of such an idea on any forum. Am I off base?

question....

miggerysow -

Question for you.... are you suggesting to use the Oak as a sub-floor? or as a sub and actual floor (2 layers)??

Thinking out loud here - the T/G oak floor would likely shift quite a bit as a sub-floor. Not to mention the weight. If you added a 2nd layer..... more weight....!!!

My thinking, while admittedly based on 0% actual experience!, is that a 'normal' sub with oak over the top would be a great (but heavy!) choice for your TT floor.

Please be sure to keep us posted on your thinking, questions, and the process as you go forward.... maybe others with actual life/trailer experience can offer more thoughts....?!

Well Teresa has a cool trailer and i'm sold on the hardwood. I'm really thinking about the t/g as the sub and only floor. Since I'm only now getting the frame ready for paint it will be maybe a week before I start with the flooring so am still looking for someone who has tried this. Will keep you posted
