Frame and Outrigger Selections

I really appreciate all of the knowledge on this forum, thank you for sharing!

I have a 1963 22' Airstream Safari. I need to replace a few frame cross members and outriggers. I came across this web page which seems to have quite a selection:

https://airstreamsupply.com/New-Airs...me-and-Coupler

I know I need to take measurements of my frame cross members and outriggers and compare the measurements to the offerings, but I wanted to see if anyone could point me in the right direction. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge - this forum has been a great resource.

Best regards,
Justin

Justin, there has been a lot of feedback concerning Silver Trailer Supply. None of it was very good. Hopefully you’re successful if you buy from them. On my chassis I purchased some purlins with the same gauge and made some. You can take a saber saw with a metal blade and cut them out. Same with the cross members. Good luck.

I got my frame parts from out of Doors Mart. odmrv.com

An outrigger is basically just a piece of channel with the correct curve cut into it. It would probably have been cheaper to have the welding shop fabricate what was needed out of stock materials. If you're doing the welding yourself, though, it might make sense to get the prefabricated stuff.

I have a local supplier bend up C channel from .125 flat stock [1/8th]. Slightly more expensive than stock 4" structural but easier to work with. No additional thickness in the web and the radious are not a sharp 90 degrees. You can also get a wider flange with bent than the stock structural, I like 2". Cut / form with a tourch or saws all w/metal blade. My guy can bend up to 10 ft lenghts. 10 foot gives me a good mix of X members & outriggers with little waste.
