Floor AS 1969 Overlander

Hi

I have an (what i think) an inspection hole in the floor in the bathroom, i think it's for the gas water heater, which is NOT connected anymore.

is't a problem to cover the hole ?

i'm mounting new vinyl and dont want to cut a hole if i dont need it...

That is a vent for the furnace. There should be another one just like it somewhere in the front of the trailer, too.

okey vent for the waterheater, it's disconnected and an electric waterheater is installed, so i guess i can cover the hole with new vinyl floor without any problems then ?


yes there is also one inside the kitchen cabin.

Water heaters vent to the outside of the trailer. As previously mentioned, it ismost likely a vent for the furnace.

What you have is your cold air return vent. I'm not an expert, but to ensure your furnace works correctly, it needs the cold air returns that Airstream put in these units.

The furnace takes cold air in at the furnace.

That's a warm air vent that heats the bathroom. The front vent heats the front.

They are covered with a grill-like device called a floor register.

I guess my original owners manual for my 66 overlander is not right! In houses that size is always a floor register but not for our Suburban heater.

Well, I wasn't going by an owners manual. In my 67 Trade Wind, hot air came out of those.

Besides, an Airstream is too small to need return ducting. When the hot air is blown to the ends, the air will recirculate.
