Marine Grade and Pressure Treated Plywood

Has anyone heard of a problem using pressure treated plywood against the aluminum wall channel?

What replacement floor material would you recommend??

never use pressure treated. It will cause you serious issues with the skin, is toxic stuff, and is full of voids. It is never felt either.

Like Frank said, never use pressure treated plywood anywhere near an Airstream. It has a bunch of nasty stuff in it including copper.

I recommend you use the highest quality marine grade plywood you can afford.
The best I've found is Joubert Marine grade.
Aquatek, Hydrotek are also high quality products.

You want something that meets BS 1088

I agree, there is no free lunch when it comes to the trade off for wood rot and for your health. Why they still make playgrounds for kids with the stuff is beyond me.

Treated generations of plywood

There have been several generations of treatment chemicals, some very bad ones have been rendered obsolete. The current one is manufacturer certified for aluminum contact above ground.

The blurb at my local Menards says:
This lumber has been pressure treated for above ground (AG) applications. AC2 brand treated wood products use MicroPro™ technology,.... MicroPro™ technology offers many benefits including significantly improved corrosion performance. MicroPro™/AC2 technology is the first treated wood process to be certified under Scientific Certification Systems Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) Program based on life cycle assessment....

 • Environmentally friendly
 • MicroPro™/AC2 treated wood is NAHB Research Center green approved
 • Lighter, more natural wood appearance
 • Improved painting and staining qualities
 • Better corrosion resistance for code-approved fasteners and hardware
I am going to use some on my 68 Caravel.
