Airstream warranty?

We have a 2019 Flying Cloud 23fb and found a soft floor spot at foot of the bed. The dealer says they determined the leak that caused it came from the running light on the left front corner of the trailer. They said they used a pressure test to determine this as there was no way to tell with a visual test. I have never disturbed that light and I never saw any sign of a hole around that light during my periodic checks.

The leak must have occurred sometime in the first year of ownership since we only noticed the soft floor during year two. The trailer is still under warranty and yet Airstream has denied warranty service on the grounds that I did not preform required maintenance services.

The only thing sealing all the running lights is a rubber boot at the base of the light held in place by two screws. The only way the light would leak is if the factory did not screw it in tight or the rubber boot is defective yet it is my fault for not checking all the running lights to make sure they are screwed in tight (requiring me to pop off the lenses). Tell me all you loyal Airstreamites where is the logic in this? Why am I responsible for a $6000+ repair bill?

Sawbuck... I feel your pain.

Nancy and I used CLEAR silicone to seal the exterior areas permanently. at OUR SPECIFICATIONS. This would be OVER any Airstream sealants, applied at the Factory.

The shiny one inch wide strips, with rivets, is a lot of feet to seal. Sealer is cheap... my time is cheaper.

It is sparse around those Tail Lights.

The gasket is thin between the tail lights and aluminum body. We have done all of the sides, front and rear. Checked the windows, which are so far, fine. We are going to Silicone those today... thanks for a heads up.

When we took the Airstream Tour in 2007 at Jackson Center... they had this area where the Shell would have a huge amount of water dumped upon it. If it leaked... they missed it as it would have been in between the outer and inner skins.

Yep... I had to suck up the 2019 FB27 Front Storage Compartment getting splits / indents.

My fault... of course. After beating and trashing my other Airstreams as I am a Beast and a Neanderthal. Nancy is a Human Bean. Keeps me on a loose leash.

I purchased an Oliver. It is also a 2019. Oliver made their #1000 this month. Ours is below 500th. No leaks. No cracks in the fiber glass. No problems. We will give the Oliver a test this year. The previous owner did the same travel as we do.

He was a Human Bean... but I know he is a Neanderthal.

Why? Because it is a "limited" warranty and there is a list of items NOT covered or provide an out for Airstream. Read the warranty and you'll see a list of exclusions:

#5. Normal maintenance and service items, including but not limited to light bulbs, fuses, lubricants, sealants and seals, door adjustments, and awning tension;

Sealants and seals are specifically stated as a non-covered item.

I second Ray’s sympathy comments. That’s a shame you’ve got to deal with this.

You could make an appointment at Jackson Center and have the factory repair shop take a look at it and ask them to go 50% on the fix (or more). The factory may help you out. Perhaps write a letter in advance pleading your case. It’s worth the cost of a stamp to find out. Let them know you bought an Airstream on their reputation and hope they can make it right.

Knock, Knock... Airstream JC... Bad PR travels fast

Jeffmc306 is a very acute, perceptive understanding, intelligent person. Common Sense.

(I deleted more than 90% of my comments. Yours is an example of how Airstream takes care of their customers...)

We have a 2020 FC QRb 30 foot and guess what? We have found a discoloration at the foot of the bed. I am trying to fiqure out what it could be, now I see it could be this. oh geez. We are taking this to the factory in two weeks. I have already had a front end seperation fix which has been a major problem already.
