1955 Safari Floor Rot and Frame Deterioration.

Recently purchased a 1955 Safari with serious flooring issues in the rear as it sat in a field in the Florida Keys for so long that a small tree grew into the back glass and it leaked for years...I bought it for 500 dollars on a a bill of sale only...I want to restore it...What kind of dream or nightmare have I gotten myself into?

That year and model at that price, you must be kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!Go buy a lottery ticket NOW. If the shell is any good it dos'nt matter if it has a floor, or a frame for that matter.

I think I should help you out .....you don't want a big project like that. I will get you out of it and give you your 500.00 back and even a 100.00 profit. ain't I a great guy just kidding. It sounds like a lot of work but what a cool trailer and worth a large amount of money if restored to a high level. Take your time and read, read, read about the repairs needed here on this forum. The search tool is your friend. If you read some build threads you will get an idea of what your in for. I have a soft spot for airstreams from tha era. My grand father lived in one when he was building a house in the late 50s on grassy key. I have a couple pictures of it. Does your look like this one?
