Shower Faucet
So, While re-doing the systems in our 1972 Ambassador we have decided to replace all the copper with PEX. Now mind you the RV repair place is doing most if not all of this, As I am working and we want to get this done by someone with much more know how than myself.
I do like to help, facilitate parts, etc ... And I've done much of the cosmetic work. But mostly want to have the major things checked and done by a professional. We need a new water heater, gas valves, etc ...
Since there were many splits in the copper we needed to replace with PEX. So we also now need a new shower faucet. The old one appears to be a MOEN or very similar, SINGLE HANDLE with a mixer valve. The valve was supported mostly by the ridged copper pipes. And a new one could not be located in a timely fashion So I am opting for just getting a common one from Home Depot. (Photo Below). Since the panel on the side of the shower/Tub is now removed I made a Square out of plywood, 8"x8" and drilled holes out for the valve (See photos) and mounted it to the wood. then using SHARK BITE fitting will attach the PEX. this play wood can be glued or screwed to the back of the existing panel and thus give the needed support.
I think this will work and can be done with any similar valve. IF you cant get a original, at least you can get a mixer type and maintain the look and appearance of it.
I will get more photos when completed.
