Parallel Honda 2000 Generator Question

1. I just bought the Honda 2000EU and Companion 2000i with the parallel cable. They run great but when I tried to power my rig, though the voltmeter reads 126 VAC, when I plug in my power 3-prong twist-lock input cable no voltage at the outlets, but with the house power source it works. What's going on? Is the power cable wired wrong on the trailer? I tried each generator separately and they both work and power appliances not on the trailer.

2. Where can I get a replacement awning retracting spring? One of mine is broken from over-tightening...yes, I did it. It wasn't winding the awning up without help from me on a ladder so I gave it 4 more rounds and BANG!

Thanks,

Sky King in Texas

My guess is you're plugging into the receptacle on the front of your trailer that's marked "Generator." Either you have a faulty transfer switch or the receptacle's not wired into your AC circuit. Try plugging the generators into the same receptacle you plug your shore power and it should work.

Is your's a ZipDee brand awning? If so, google ZipDee and go to their catalog for a parts list and schematics.

Use your voltmeter to check pin to pin voltages on your house wiring and your generator to look for differences.

If you have installed a surge protector some of them want to see neutral connected to ground. Take a regular 15A plug and jumper between the white wire pin and green wire pin and plug it in to one of the generator outlets. This will give you the connection the surge protector wants to see without having to modify anything.
