Thanks very much guys.
The first night we arrived at Palo During Canyon State Park 22 min after closing time so we had to boondock in the "late arrival" area. Luckily it was cool and breezy. My oldest son found a nice bull snake on the way back from the showers. The canyon was beautiful.

Snakes can bring some fright! Scotty also saw his first rattle snake when he was running on a trail early in the morning.
Here are a few numbers from the trip.
I tow with a Toyota Sequoia. It has Michelin LTX A/T2 at 41 PSI. Abby is shod with brand new Michelin LTX M/S2 at 45 PSI. I drive between 65-70 MPH.
From my house to Abilene was 192.7 miles. It took 21.917 gal for 8.8 MPG. This was with the transmission in O/D off.
From Abilene to Plainview was 208 miles. She took21.252 gal for 9.7 MPG with the O/D on.
From the NM border to Milagro NM we got 8.45 MPG.
From Milagro to Cuba was 158 miles and we got 10.61 MPG! This was on US 550. Nice road.
From Cuba, NM to Durango, Co was 153 miles and we got the record of 10.87 MPG.

We left Palo Duro Canyon State park on Saturday the 2nd. We went through Amarillo and stopped at the stretch of Historic Route 66 on 6th Avenue. It was very cool, to say the least! Then we pounded away at the pavement, going through Albuquerque on the way to Durango, CO. When we got to Durango, we went to four different campgrounds. All of them were FULL! We ended up staying in the Walmart parking lot. Not much on accommodations, but the price was great! Yesterday we made it here to Cortez, CO. We are at the KOA. Nice place. We are the only Airstreamers here. Great people here. Today we're going to Mesa Verde NP. Should be a fun time.

We are having a great trip! Abby is doing wonderfully! So far, no problems to report. There are a bunch of European tourists around here. They seem to like to snap pictures of Abby. Nearly every stop at a gas station, there is someone taking pictures of her. When we were in Cortez, CO, we gave a short tour of Abby to a nice German couple from Darmstadt. They said a lot of "WOW!". It was so cool. I'm not looking forward to returning home to Texas much. I have an itchy foot. I have Wanderlust!

Glad to see you and your family having a great time with Abby! I'm sure your enjoying the cool weather, you considering staying in CO until TX cools down yet?
Im on my journey home now to TX to see if it's any hotter there than it is here in Asia.

We call it "Hitch Itch"....can't remember where I heard that but it does describe out traveling style...seldom staying in one place for more than a day or two...
Thanks for carrying us along on Abby's big adventure, we may have camped at the same Moab campground!

Well, time to leave Moab. Thinking of looking for some aliens on the trip home. We've been collecting a lot of stickers.

Stop at Clines' Corners on the way back. The kids (and you two "adults") will like the old rt. 66 stickers on sale there.

Thanks Melody. We'll have to check it out. The weather is clear and breezy. It is cooling off nicely. No mosquitoes like in Moab. No smoke here. Beautiful starry night.
