73 Ambassador Please Help Me Identify This...

Am just starting work and I can't determine what the heck this is stick out out in front on the undercarriage. There is a handle of sorts that Ys out and is attached to the frame. It has a mount directly below the plug where you connect the lights to the truck. I'd appreciate anyone who can tell me before I do anything to it. Many thanks in advance.

definitely the spare tire rack. Pull the pin and drop the front to the ground. you should see how the tire sits on the rack.

Yes, spare tire rack. Warning don't put a flat tire into it. A flat tire can slide out while going down the road.
