Ram 2500 6.4L

My Ram 2500 6.4L Hemi gets 11-12 mpg on mix of rolling hills and flat terrain highway driving. I tow around 65 mph most of the time.
If I drop to 60 mph, I see a little bump.

The truck tows beautifully...Plenty of power and braking.

In decent weather we get 16-19 mpg towing, 28-30 mpg solo hwy. With the setup shown in our signature, truck loaded near even and within each 3900 lb axle and the combination within GCWR, the overall performance is excellent, driving effortless. And it is a nice ride and good daily driver.

2007 International CCD 28' towed with 2016 Ram 1500 with 5.7 Hemi. 10mpg between 65-70 mph. No problem with hills in the Smoky Mountains.

I love these threads about tow vehicles and fuel mileage. I bought my Duramax new and it was my daily driver until I retired 2 years ago. I love driving a a 3/4 ton truck. You are up high where you can see and be seen and they get a certain amount of respect on the road. I've never owned a truck that got some of the unrealistic fuel mileage figures that I see quoted. I'm a stickler on maintenance and I always run recommended tire pressures of 55 F and 80 R. Towing the AS at 65 I average between 10 and 14 depending on driving conditions. When not towing and with a tail wind, I occasionally get 20-21 but most of the time it's closer to 18. I wish I got 18 towing but it's not gonna happen.

I have a 2014 1500 Silverado with a 5.3 engine and 3.43 rear end. I pull a 2016 FC 26 U at 55 to 60 MPH and get 12 to 13 MPG. I really love this TV and Trailer.

thank you, that is probably the best towing mileage out there. I do own that truck as well, just never towed my AS with it yet. It is waiting for me at Colonial to be picked up in April.....

We have a 2015 Silverado 1500 5.3L crew cab, pulling our 2010 International CCD 27FB, we get about 12mpg towing at 60-65mph.

Well I only tow a 6000lb 25 footer with a measly 3.6L V6 gasser, but FWIW I get 11 MPG on average all-day-long -- this just to illustrate that weight and displacement means little when it comes to non-turbo gassers -- all yield in the 10-12MPG range regardless of which model Airstream you tow or with what. If you want better mileage, slow down ... or you could drop the big bucks on a diesel, but you won't save any money net-net unless, perhaps, you're full timing.

Hi Harry, never looked at that shopping tool. I need to know the GAWR for setting up my weight distribution system with out overloading an axle, and the GCWR to know what my EcoD is designed to tow and stop.

More seriously, payload and Airstream tongue weights are so misused in this forum, I try to avoid the trolls and endless squabbles. Rather we can advise our fellow Airstreamers on what we have learned from experience.
