Too good to be true?

We've been looking for a late model 25' twin. There's one posted on the classifieds today - a 2008. Only 3 pics but looks great. It says 'excellent' condition. Price is listed at $15,000. Any thoughts?

SCAM ? A 2007 Basecamp just got listed here for $10K ..... and the same trailer just sold on ebay for over $26K. Same photo, same text. This Basecamp scam is also listed on multiple Craigslist sites.

It cannot be legit for that price! Or the seller is a fool (which just might be the case)!

http://www.airstreamclassifieds.com/ads/2008-airstream-classic-25-texas/

I have a 2008 Classic 25fb queen. The photo of the kitchen area looks like mine except I have the microwave over the sink hanging down from the cabinet and gas stove. The outside front he has the single window while I have the pano windows with rock guards and mine doesn't have the decal down the side. Looking on the Airstream site for the 2008 floorplans AS did make a twin Classic 25fb. The propane tanks look larger on the photos than mine. Maybe 40lb?

Maybe the seller thinks Airstreams depreciate like SOBs. Has to be a typo. I would be interesting to know the full story.

Here is the response I got.

Hi
Pics are attached.
The trailer is in mint condition. The asking price is $15,000 and it includes shipping.
I have it in Phoenix,AZ prepared for shipping,I will post it and sell it through eBay.
Selling because I just lost my husband and I have no use for it anymore,he was the one who used it.I need to pay my loan on the house as soon as possible.
If you're interested in buying it through ebay just let me know and I will give you more info on the deal.
Thank you!

And it includes shipping? Maybe I'll buy it, LOL. Either buy a plane ticket check it & the title out or move on.

Total scam! If "she's" interested in paying the loan on the house asap, free shipping wouldn't be offered up.

Thanks everyone. You've pretty much confirmed what I thought. And yes, the ad KJRitchie posted is the one I was referring to.

Ask for the physical address and tell them you want to come see it. That should remove doubt.

It is a scam... I responded to the ad as breathlessly as I could... for sure gonna buy it and I couldn’t wait to part with the $15K in my hot little hands.

Ivette Barnard was her name and the trailer was listen as being in Austin but contacting her, it’s in Phoenix but not to worry, shipping anywhere is included in that $15K price! Rjpuckett got the same initial email that I got.

I asked for her phone number so we could talk. She made it clear that any dealings would be via email only. When I told her I wouldn’t need shipping, I’d pick it up myself and deliver the money at that time, no response Ivette.

When I emailed her later on, the email came back “undeliverable” and the ad was pulled from the classifieds...

Maybe Ms. Barnard is off to scam EBay now?

Positively a Scam

Be glad you didn't waste more time or worse yet, sent a money order to an unknown address only to never hear another word.

Had no intention of buying it - was just trying to play them out and scam a scammer. Dangit though, (s)he folded before I could play my cards...
