Question Protective Asset Protection Insurance?

Hello,

I just purchased my first Airstream(New 2017 Sport) yesterday and go to sign/finalize the finance paperwork and take delivery on Thursday. I cannot wait! My question: My dealer presented me with the option to purchase the extended warranty through Protective Asset Protection(Platinum Coverage) which provides a lot of various travel/camp benefits as it relates to injury, breakdown, pet boarding, etc. as well as extends the factory warranty by 3 years for a total of 5(If I understood correctly). Is this worth purchasing? I am financing 100% and it will only add $19 to my total monthly payment(I intend to pay the camper off way before the loan terms dictate). I will be using my camper as a full timer while attempting to travel extensively around the U.S. Do most purchase the extended warranty on a trailer? Normally, I decline these on items such as electronics for obvious reasons whereas in this case we are talking about a $42k camper. Thoughts?

I actually bought one with my trailer, a new 23D. When I got home and read through the plan, it didn't make sense to me, as I am a do it yourselfer, and the AS comes with a 2 year warranty. In addition, any mods to the system would void the warranty, and I know I will mod mine, whether it is a showerhead upgrade, or full electronic solar system.

Read the fine print and voids, make sure you are comfortable with it...

it wasn't for me and we cancelled it within the time allotted for full refund...

I passed on it. I don't think you can justify the cost and if a repair(s) are needed that would justify it you can bet it will be difficult to get it fully covered. Most issues will shake out in the first two years of factory warranty beyond that do it yourself or find a well recommend local shop. Unlike a modern auto there is not much that's overly complicated or difficult to fix.
