Propane Tanks - Valve replacement costs?
I have been looking for a used AS now for several weeks. On those that I have looked at, I have found that two things seem to be frequently in need of repair or replacement. The Propane tanks do not meet current requirements and are in need of new connectors, valves and regulators, and the water pump is frequently defective or in need of repair.
My question is "what does it cost to get these items repaired and/or replaced?" .....and do you have any reccommendations for types, brands, etc. and where is the least expensive place to purchase them? Thank you, Bill

I just had valves replaced and the tanks (2) recertified for $58 including labor. They said they gave me a "deal" on the valves at $15.50 each - I have no way of knowing if that is true. This didn't include any work on the trailer, just the tanks.

That sounds about right. I took in a tank for one of our elderly guests in an Argosy. It cost a little under $20 to have it visually recertified (5 years) and retrofitted with an OPD. Of course, the propane company also expected that I have the tank filled, too, and their propane was more expensive than the propane we sell here at the park. Small price to pay, though, I guess. And the guest got a tank he could use.

The tank valves are easy and should cost less than $20 including installation. You have to have empty tanks when you take them in to be changed and recertified. Recertification can be as little $10 -$20. The regulator may or may not need fixing. You have to test it. Labor charge less than 1/2 hour. If it is bad it likely will set you back $150 with labor. Replacing the water pump pricing you can find at campers world website or in their catalog. Most likely another $150 with labor.

I paid around $75 for both tanks to have valves replaced, recertified, and filled. Just look in the yellow pages under Gas-Propane for a local company.
