Never trust any seller when buying a used Airstream.
Don't think of buying one until you have probed through the vinyl floor into the plywood subfloor with a moisture test meter, all around the interior perimeter, and if it's damp run away.
Also search "filiform corrosion" here to see what it looks like and know what to look for, and how bad is bad.
Know what to look for to find a quality used Airstream, or have somebody help you, or buy a new one.
The best tow vehicle matches the trailer's needs and your own needs, get the Airstream first but don't be in a hurry.

I have not seen a follow up post by the original poster (OP.) I wonder if we've scared him away??

Nope, not scared away. As a matter of fact, I am currently negotiating pricing on a 2011 28' FC. I'm hoping I'm not overpaying.

Develop your inspection checklist when buying a late model used Airstream. dkottum's advice are the first two items to check. Then make sure all the appliances and systems work. Open and shut all the windows and vents. Check the fit of the door. The seller will be happy to plug in his tow vehicle so you can watch all the exterior lights work.
Research the pricing like you would a car.
In the end I think you will love traveling in an Airstream and being part of the Airstream community.

I just inked the deal on a 28' FC today. I also bought the tow vehicle which is a 2006 Nissan Titan V8 with tow package. I will be picking up the Airstream in a couple of weeks. I am sooo excited!

@cantdrv55
Congratulations... I do understand the excitement. For me my latest Airstream was more exciting than even a huge moho about five years ago. You should be happy. Hope all goes well for you.

Like kscherzi, still with first girlfriend, married 40 and first job. As to the AS TV question, we looked hard for several years to find a pre-enjoyed AS. Just couldn't find the right one. This process allowed us to determine we wanted a 25'. Though we live in the east we plan to spend extensive time out west. So when we found a Ram 2500 that was barely broke in and at a $ I thought was decent we jumped on it. Ultimately bought a new 25' FC, 2014. Couldn't be happier. So for us, TV first, then AS. Good luck and don't second guess your decision. You are the only ones that need to be happy.

Welcome to the Airstream community. I think you're gonna really enjoy your new rig. You can travel the country in comfort and safety. There is a lot to learn, but it comes in little bits at a time. Lots and lots of people have traveled with Airstreams for 75 years. You're gonna really enjoy your new rig!

Well welcome to the airstream community!
We purchased an almost new 28' FC last spring and could not be happier! Our unit is a 2013 version but I thinking there will not be a big difference from yours. We went with an Eco-boost F150 with a max tow package as our TV and have been very content with it's ability. Having a well suited TV is important to us as we travel a lot. So matching your TV to your trailer becomes more important than if you only move a few hundred miles annually.
We spent the extra $$ and put a ProPride hitch on... After chocking on the price for a while I'm very happy I spent the extra $$.
Good luck and enjoy your new adventure
Cheers
Doug

Is putting cart before the horse a good idea? Is this a good deal on the cart?
We pick up the AS next week now we are on the hunt for a reasonably priced but secure storage lot for it. Man, storage isn't cheap!

I forgot to mention that the AS comes with a weight distribution hitch and stabilizer bars already. I dunno what brand hitch it is though.

Whoof. Ain't that the truth! It's priced like premium boat moorage. Our indoor storage in Portland is $9 per foot per month.
