How can I get an Airstream inspected before I purchase?

Hi all,

I'm very interested in the 25' 2005 Safari I found in the classifieds on this site, posted 8/4. But I'm in Maine, and the AS is in St. Louis, MO. Does anyone know a dealership, repair shop, or an individual who I could hire to inspect it for me, before I drive out there. I've not seen a request like this posted here, so I'm hoping I'm not making a blunder by asking. But there is such a wealth of information on this site and everyone seems so helpful, I thought this would be the place to start. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Annie

If it looks really good, you could make an offer which is conditional on your approval after inspection.

There are members in the forum who are willing to serve as inspectors. Go to the Quick Links and do a Member Search. There is a check box to search for "Trailer Inspector". You can search in the MO area and start a dialogue with someone. Good luck.

The dealer in st. Louis is very Airstream Friendly. He is on the North side of town...I can't remember the name...but, there is a good chance he will know this trailer. Worth a try. There are many Forum members in the area too.

Thank you all. This is an exciting and intimidating process. I know there is a learning curve. I don't know if I could push past my fears, if it were not for the amazing resources available here.

Hi Annie,

We see this issue all the time in the vintage car world as well, so we started a site to help!

Jewel or Jalopy has enthusiasts signed up all over the country who are willing to help inspect cars and now trailers!

We are still building out the trailer inspectors, but you can search by city or metro region and see who is there and what experience they have.

Good luck with your search!

Find an Enthusiast Inspector

Cheers,
Ian

Bill Thomas is the Airstream dealer in St. Louis. I do not know whether he would offer an inspection service as a good part of his business is selling used trailers.
