Camper Clinic II (Austin, TX) - Great Experience
Often times it's easy to offer up "cautionary feedback" (myself included) on dealerships, but it seems less often that positive feedback and recognition is given (again, guilty myself).
This is an opportunity we would like to simply state that our recent experience in purchasing our new Airstream, from Camper Clinic II (Austin, TX), was a truly a positive experience, in every respect (touring the available inventory, discussing our trade-in value, delivery/acceptance of the new Airstream, Service staff setting up our new towing equipment, purchasing a few items for installation, their assistance to make the move from previous RV to new RV, follow up afterwards).
The Sales staff, the Service staff, the Business Manager, every aspect of the purchase experience was outstanding. I can say with all sincerity, we are 100% satisfied customers and happy to see a completely different Camper Clinic II that we feel we can depend on for future Service and support.
Thank you Camper Clinic II.

Our experience was not quite as good, we ended up purchasing from some another dealer. We felt pressured by a sales staff that was not very familiar with the product line, we started to notice a lot of "miss information" and "questionable statements" from staff that left us looking for the door.
I would say every one has an off day, but we made multiple trips and it did not get better.

I attempted to buy from Camper Clinic II in Buda, TX and Foley in Gulport, MS. The financing was declined at both dealerships. I bought at Crain. The financing was also declined at Crain, but the finance man told me that he had some customers that were declined, but when they went online to apply through Good Sam they were approved. I followed his advice, went online and applied, and was approved. I never quite understood why I was declined. Good income, very little debt, good debt/income ratio, great FICO, good payment history- maybe it was the amount of money? Maybe it was the lack of the 10-20% down payment? I had another trailer to trade in worth $22,000. I was considering trading my Harley worth $12,000- or selling it and bringing the cash-The Airstream is the most expensive thing I have ever bought.
Why would Bank of the West approve me online when I did the application myself, but not when the dealership put in the credit application? I have never been denied credit before.
I'm sure if the financing had been approved I would have traveled to Texas to buy the trailer and had a great sales experience.
Maybe all dealers should let people who have been denied credit to go online and get the money from Good Sam/Bank of the West.
Does Wells Fargo do RV financing? Our house (nearly paid off, thank goodness!) is financed through Wells Fargo and I have bought furniture and financed it through Wells Fargo. I should have an easy time borrowing from Wells Fargo if I need to. Also, I have an easy time borrowing from my local bank (behind the house- they know me) or my local credit union (I financed the first trailer through them).
I wish I would have gotten the money online and bought the trailer from Foley- it had brown (or cocoa or whatever they call the color) Ultraleather and factory solar and inverter, but was only about $2,000 more- or gotten the money online and had the trailer custim built with brown Ultraleather, solar, inverter, 16" wheels and tires, and a ProPride. Maybe I should have joined Forums before I bought a trailer...

Good post, bubba. Just don't read the fine print. Sorta like how most of us probably insure these things.

I've not bought from Camper Clinic II, but I tried to buy a used 31' from them a few years ago. Their price was so high it was a much better deal for me to drive to Colorado Springs to buy a trailer there. Like multiple thousands of dollars better.
I have had some warranty recall service work done at CCII. That convinced me I will never go back there for anything. Too bad for me because they are my closest dealer.

The rock guards we purchased are in and we have a couple warranty items to address so hopefully the Service experience will be positive.

Because dealers are so far away- 4 or 5 hours- and they never have the parts in stock and they always want you to leave your trailer for 2 weeks I decided to get my warranty work done at Jackson Center. That is the best service experience I have ever had. I would highly recommend the long road trip and a plant tour and tours of museums in the surrounding cities.

About 1700 miles. Or, nearly $1700 in vehicle expense (all inclusive) plus per diem expenditures. Call it $2000. I'd be willing to break even if I saved $5 versus trading with a dealer not to be trusted. I don't like them either after looking at a TT on their lot. And dealt with three sales people plus manager.
One should search out opinions in this TT type for service. Glad warranty isn't my concern.

I'm with the original poster regarding my experience with Camper Clinic II. I bought a new Safari 20SE from them in February 2007. My sales experience was great, and all of my service and parts needs were competently handled during my 5 years of ownership.
As this was my first RV, my only disappointments were the lack of a comfortable lounging area and the poor quality of the tires used in the travel trailer industry. Some years later I considered purchasing a slightly larger Airstream from them to meet my "lounging" needs, but realized that Airstream no longer values this feature in any but its largest trailers. An uncomfortable bench-style dinette that is only going to be used for an hour or so a day for meals is a terrible waste of space for me, when that area could be better utilized with a nice sofa, or recliners, and a fold-down table. But, I guess the designers at Airstream know the "market" better than I.
In the end I traded my Safari for a Class A DP motorhome in 2012 to get the features I wanted and am a "happy camper." However, I do miss the wonderful relationship I had with Camper Clinic II.

In this jaded, easy to blast over the World Wide Web in which we all now live, it is so refreshing to read a post of a positive experience. Happy for Frank and Mike that as they again became Airstream owners their experience was a good one. And how good of them to post it.
