Big Time Scamming on CL this weekend

Beware Beware Coast to coast. I've been flagging these people so they must be trying harder, they flooded CL with multiple ads for the same trailers in every area of the US.

This clown does this on a regular basis. He is based out of New Orleans. He normally tries to tie this Bambi with the red trim trailer to a so called celebrity or other famous person.

I look at CL on a regular basis, if the photo has "TEXT ME AT XXX-XXX-XXXX" imbedded into the photo it's almost 100% a scam.

Thankfully, all my Craig's List purchases have been great, but I just assume all the ads are scams, since CL has no real methodology. It's just as bad selling on CL, because every low baller will want something for nothing.

Here in Florida there's always a guy selling Honda generators in every city, but his map is always West Palm, and he delivers??? Suspicious at best.

Not just Airstreams.

I have a few camping searches on CLin Chicago and have seen a lot of the "Text me at..." headlines on the iadvertisement picture for other RV brands

Good Job on Scams

Area code 705 is Ontario Canada.
Area code 402 Nebraska.

A few tips:
I have bought and sold cars, sold a trailer
and bought an Airstream on CL.

Always ask to see the title in advance.
Check with the DMV in that state.

Never part with any cash unless you see your purchase first.
Verify that the VIN matches the title.
Never buy anything without a good title.
Check with DMV that the title certificate issue date matches
the one on the certificate.

Never part with money unless you can leave with your purchase.

Not sure of the buyer seller do the transaction in the police/ sheriff parking lot or in a bank..

Get a copy of the drivers license.

I have bought and sold a dozen cars on ebay and CL.

Most people are honest and sincere. A few aren't.

NO PERSONAL CHECKS..
We have a scammer here in town that pays with personal checks.
Once they have the title signed over to them they own the vehicle and it becomes a civil matter. Authorities are reluctant to prosecute no less search for the paper hangers.

Good luck.,

Not every state requires or provides a title. Rhode Island, for instance, does not maintain a title for any vehicle made before 2000.

I've seen these ads too. Michigan allows sale and signing over a title without certification any state official , and that's crazy! It seems to me that until a title reaches the state DMV, then last owner of record becomes legally responsible. My FIL made this mistake of assigning a title, and the vehicle ended up being burned, towed, and then he ended up with huge towing and storage fees for a burned out vehicle.
