2014 International Signature...

Hello Everyone -

I am going to buy a 2014 23D International Signature. I have seen and gotten replies from several different dealers regarding cost. On line, they can be listed from around $67,000+. I've had a dealer in Canada tell me he could sell me one for $62,000. And then I heard from another dealer in The States that I could buy from him for around $55,000 plus fees.

I guess my question is, what is fair and reasonable? Can anyone advise me on what is an acceptable discount off of the retail/listed price? I don't want to feel like I'm being "had" and yet I want to be realistic.

I truly appreciate your advice and guidance!

Hello. Most folks seem to suggest 20-22% off sticker is reasonable. Think about service too - if you have to travel hours either way, that can be less important but best to have a dealer you can trust. Good luck!

Thank you for your feedback! That's actually a good point about service. I have found that although I live in the Atlanta, GA area, the dealers most prepared and knowledgable are not really near me.

Dealers far away from your location usually bank on the idea that you would not travel hundreds of miles back for repairs.

So, is it advisable to purchase from a dealer that is closer even if that dealer is smaller and perhaps not as verse in repairs and knowledge of an Airstream? It seems that the larger dealers would be best equipped for service and repairs?

Every A/S stream comes with 2 years factory warranty. Any dealer will horor that because they get reimbursed from A/S. Sometimes independant Airstream dealer are authorized to do warranty work as well. I would get the best deal I can get on the price. Most of the time big dealer will match the legitimate offer. These trailers has good markup and the number mentioned above is very good. If you find a dealer of choice who is asking a few bucks more than the lowest you can make up the shortfall with having him add the solar, good hitch, invertor etc. without any cost.
Good luck I am sure you will love the airstream

I am also getting prices on a 2014 23d. If you want to send me a PM, we can compare notes.

IMHO- FWIW-
Buy the least expensive one and take it back to the mothership for service.
I bought my trailer 4 hours away knowing I would never see that dealer again.
I am planning a trip to Jackson Center for service in September 2014 just before the warranty runs out.
I have not had any issues that required me to take it back to a dealer- and usually they are ill equipped to deal with the problem- want you to leave your trailer or they don't have the parts anyway- I can't leave my trailer 5 hours away (10 hour trip) and return in a couple of weeks (another 10 hours) for service- It would be better to make an appointment with the mothership, stay in their campground, tour the plant-

Had the chance to save some dollars by buying 2 states away, but we had spent a ton of time at the local dealer, who had a good reputation. Always prefer to support the local dealer. Glad we did, as they got our custom ordered 28 delivered to us in 6 weeks when others were quoting Jan for delivery of a 2014, allowing us to enjoy a few trips before winter set in.

They matched the initial quote for a 2013 that was on their lot, then offered a fair deal on a newer 2014. I could have saved maybe a few thousand going elsewhere, but it would have been a hassle. Local dealer threw in the hitch, about $250 in RV goodies, and has been great answering questions, and the walk through was quite thorough.

If you have a local dealer, that is Great. For us, the dealers are 4-5 hours away- 8-10 hour round trip- twice if you have to drop it off and pick it up later. By the time you spend 16-20 hours on the road you can just go to Jackson Center, camp in the "terraport" free, get the problem repaired, get a factory tour...

Form what I've read you wont get 20-22% off a 2014 (yet anyway) that would be on a 2012 or maybe a 2013 from a northern dealer this time of year. Some have said 17-19% on a 2014 and 18-20% on a 2013 maybe a little more in Jan-March (out of season). So that $55,000 is a descent price since it does vary dependent on models (some have different profits built into MSRP).

Since Atlanta does not have an Airstream dealer, the OP would have to travel to wherever the proposed unit is located. After determining how many days drive are palatable one way, draw a circle reflecting that distance from the home location and see what dealers fall within the circle. Those would be the initial contacts for pricing. Note stock status might not be an issue if a dealer has a near term unsold build slot available so you spec the unit the way you want the unit.

Yes, but you're in BEAVER CREEK OHIO - transportation costs from the factory to the dealer would be quite low in OHIO!

(And no, we can't order them direct from the factory - though I've never asked if I could order from a dealer and pick it up at the factory. Camp a few days at the terraport and try to get all of the bugs out.... hm.

Hi Neighbor,
We've bought 2 new from Bates in FL - the last one in 2008. We didn't have any problems but they are too far away for service really. We've gone up to Jackson Center for bigger things and use Three Way Camper on 41 for smaller out of warranty things. That works for us.

I have purchased three Airstreams from Colonial in New Jersey, one I came cross country from California to bring back West.

Purchase from them and stay onsite for a night or two to create a punchout list, third day they can knock it out then head home.

As these are "Handmade" everyone I have owned so far has had its little issues.
