The Overlander was produced for about 50 years.

Yes, in 1977, Airstream had a 27 foot trailer, along with an 18', 21', 23', 25', 29', and a 31 foot.

The International models for many of those years were a 27', 29', 31'.

Thanks Andy, What would a typical serial # look like for a 77 Overlander. I may have found the Title to my 56 Overlander. My Ser# is 07227. I had a check run through the state and there is a trailer registered as a 1977 Overlander bearing my Ser#. Wouldn't the 1977 have a Ser# with alot more digits?

A 1977 Overlander Airstream trailer would have a serial number as follows.

I = International
27 = Length
T or D or A or B
7 = Year
S = Cerritos
j = jackson Center.
then 4 numbers

Example: I 27 T 7 S 1234

Post a photo for a better shot at it.

Andy

I bought the trailer pictured bearing serial #07227. When I went to close the fella had a title for a 1968 with a VIN#2178094A1R which I believe is a bogus VIN. At least it doesn’t look like an Airstream VIN to my untrained eye. The State will do a title history search for me on the 07227 so I can find out what is going on. I am thinking my Overlander was manufactured in 1956 titled as a 1957 and somebody took the original title to my trailer and told the folks at the tag office that there was a typo and it should read 1977 and is using it on a trailer that had no title. I may end up finding someone’s stolen Airstream. The 1956 that I bought supposedly sat out in the country for years occupied by an elderly woman who ended up in the hospital and died. Then it changed hands twice before I bought it. Through a VIN registration check there is a trailer currently registered in the state as a 1977 using the SER# that is displayed on my trailer

More expert eyes will be along soon, but even I can tell you that it's clearly not a '77. I think you're closer with the '56 estimate.

Its 13-panel endcap, and the wavy logo are two strong hints.

And if the serial number has been played with, it's not obvious to the naked eye. The rivets and superficial scratches all look like something that has been there a while...

I am sure the numbers on the trailer have not been tamperd with it the title that the guy had for the trailer was way wrong. Then I found out the title that goes to the trailer I bought is in use elsewhere in the state with my Ser# still on it.
