Does it have a current title. None of that "I bought it from so & so and never put it in my name." ( I hate that ! ) If you know the owner and it has a current title with his/her name on it ...your good to go.

Hi there
I have the name of the owner, I have the vin number and I have been promised a bill of sale and 'whatever else is in the folder' when I purchase ... 'they' said its pretty easy to get a 'title' but being from England I don't have much of a clue of what any of it all means and what I should have and what is easy or what is not .... help (and thanks for the reply)
Rob

DONT TRUST ANYONE TODAY. You must check the numbers on the mfg.plate and on the a frame in person and then the title if it has one. If not make sure those serial numbers appear on the bill of sale. Make sure you check before you pass the cash.
Just my opinion

If it's that easy to get a title....you tell the seller to get one...THEN, you can proceed. You have never seen this Airstream? Now you have another concern. We do have volunteer inspectors listed here on the Forums.

Hello Everyone

Just picked up a 60's Airstream Safari, w/out a title.

Vin is 22DS S0894.

It has the post 62 astro vent, & the last owner thinks, it is a '63.

Anyone know what year she is?

Regards

Congratulations! It's a California built 1963 Safari with a dinette.

63Safari

Now you just gotta get a title...and that's not always as easy as "they" say!

The process to get a title is a bit different in every state. For some a bill of sale is enough. Here in MA I needed proof of previous registration that matched the seller on the bill of sale - they really don't "title" trailers as they do cars. Without the proper documentation it can be a pretty involved process. Here it can include police inspections and theft history run-downs.

Can be different again when buying from out of state. Call you RMV and ask what's required.

Thank you everyone for the Thread.

In Calif., as of 2011, you have to post a bond for a lost title.
It winds up costing about $300 to get a title.

Regards

Bonnie

Thank you everyone,
I found that link sometime today, as well.
There were only about 240 Safari's made in '63, so it is a rare bird.

I am putting this one up on ebay tomorrow.

I am keeping the '52 Flying Cloud.

See ya.

Regards

Bon
