I have found the pdf on vin decoding, but now I have another question. I found two slightly different vin's. The one by the door says L25D2, the plaque by the A-frame in front with the weights on it says 27D2. Does this mean I have a 25 foot trailer, but it is 27' tip to tip?
The trailer can only have one VIN, it is the number used on the title. The Airstream plaque by the door has the VIN. If it says 25', it should also say Trade Wind.

Length is measured bumper to ball, rounded off to the next lower whole number. This has generally been the Airstream convention. eg, my Safari is 25' 11", thus is called a 25. Cabin length is about 3' less than the listed length.

Measure the length of the awning rail.
Add 10 feet, and that's the overall length of the trailer.
The awning rail is cut very accurately, and so are the side, window and roof sheets of metal.
The inside of the shell, is about 3 feet shorter than the overall length.
