Title year 1991 vs original spec sheet says 1992 trailer???

So, I just bought a 34' Excella Airstream. A bit confusing... I am the third owner. PO gave me the original Airstream folder with what looks like the window spec sheet(pictured) for the trailer? It says 1992 Limited... The second owner only owned the trailer for the past 2 years so the bulk of ownership was the original owner.

The date on the title says it is a 1991. The VIN on the title and trailer match. The manufacture date on the trailer says it was made 12-18-1990.

Since my Trailer is an excella (has the blue decals) I am assuming my 1992 trailer may actually be a 1991 trailer?

It's really strange, because I don't see any benefit that any of the previous owners would suggest it was a 92 model versus a 91 model. The spec sheet clearly looks like it's original from 6/18/1991 as the paper is clearly aged.

Any ideas how this could of happened? Should I call her a 91 and not a 92?

Could that paperwork not be for that trailer? Yes, it looks old and not a reproduction, but the swap could have been made by the original dealer. Is there anything on the spec sheet with the VIN?

If the date on the spec sheet is 6+ months after the production date I suspect it is not the one for your trailer.

It sounds like a 1991 model to me.

Hi

From what I can see, the paperwork is the "Retail Price List" rather than anything official / specific to one single trailer. The date on it is "right" for the typical spring release of the new model prices.

Best guess is that the trailer sat on the lot for a while. The price list popped up as a "look at how much you saved" vs the new model. It is a list of options and prices. It would not surprise me if what's on your trailer got checked off as part of that comparison. ( thus the pen / pencil marks on the sheet ).

If that's the case, it stayed with the trailer to document the options "as delivered". Not quite 100%, but at least some sort of list of what was what. It's what they had handy when the deal was done ....

As noted above, if it *was* the window sticker, it would have the VIN on it. There also would be a full add up of all the various charges for the options present on the trailer. That would also include delivery.

Yeah, thanks for the replies! I am also assuming the dealer used this spec list when selling the trailer. I assume the trailer was bought around or after 6/18/91 on the spec sheet. 6+ months on the dealer lot is probably not out of the ordinary back then.

It does not have the VIN on this spec sheet, so you are probably right that the dealer was using it to compare this trailer to the newer 1992 Limited spec sheet.

That explains the markings of "Yes" and "No" beside certain options.

Doesn't change anything to me. Just confusing as the previous owner listed it as a 92 and not 91. But I think it was an honest mistake from looking at the spec sheet in the folder. When I arrived to pick it up she did say that the title said it was a 91.

I really just wanted to know for sure which year this trailer was. Guess it's a 91! Need to change my profile. haha!

BTW, where is the best place to start a thread on my Trailer on this forum? I would have thought there would be a "build/project" section on the forum. I want to start a thread on our new trailer to show it off, but also to get feedback/tips on modifications/upgrades/repairs. Thanks!

My main build/restoration thread is in the forum for my particular model year, which in my case is the Excella 1994 - 1996 forum. If you did the same, it would be in the Excella 1990 - 1993 forum. Just a suggestion.

I also created separate threads for some of the more involved projects in their respective repair forums so people could more easily find them, and then I link those to my main build thread.

There is also the option of starting your own blog page, but it doesn't look like that option is used too much.

Thanks Richard. Yes, I was looking at the 90-93 Excella section. Doesn't appear to be very active, but I will give it a shot when I have a chance.

I have a 1992 34 AS

In the vin number is there an N in the 11th location then it is 1992 ( NJ……) if it is M then it is 1991. You can google Airstream Vin codes. There is a lot of into embedded in the VIn code

Yeah, the title shows its a MJ so definitely think it's a 91 excella. Also makes sense because the manufacture date on the trailer shows 12/18/90
