Salvage Title Question

When a title is issued for a slalvaged coach how is it marked on the title? Is there a code or does it just spell it out? I have never seen one and was just wondering what to look for when inspecting a Texas Title.

It all depends on the state that issues a title, as to how it's exactly done.

Your state DMV can better answer your question.

Andy's right—different states do it differently. Colorado marks "salvage" on it. Check you state DMV website. It may have the answer.

In Florida, the type of title is specified as "Salvage".

Salvage titles will be designated on the title itself. You can check a VIN on the TXDOT website for the title history. That certainly doesn't mean that something was salvaged in another state and later titled in TX, but it is a start at least.

Titles issued before 2003 I think were green if they were salvage. Blue for a regular title. The new ones aren't differentiated by color as far as I know.

Thanks, I'm sure I'll find the answers to my questions on the link you provided. It seems to have an answer to just about anything dealing with vehicles in TX.
