Please help decode

I was told when I bought it that it was a 34' Airstream Excella. It seems to measure 27' inside tip to tail. Can anyone decode this VIN for me?

That VIN number is not consistent with the chart that I got somewhere on line, but I can tell you for sure if it has three axles, it's a 34 footer. However, a 30-31 footer would measure about 27' inside, and have two axles. Hope this is of some help.

2 - Not sure about the first digit, E=Excella I=International L=Landyacht
31 - 31 feet
B - Mid bath / double bed
0 - 1980
J - Ohio
1187 -Sequential serial number

Steve is correct about the number of axles. BTW, I don't think Airstream has a 34' trailer in that era.

I'm not sure I recognize that either. It looks something like a pre-1980 VIN. Check post #9 in this thread for format -
