I just recently was givin a 62 airstream tradewind. The guy that offered it to me, bought the property that it sat on at auction. Aparently the guy died that lived there, so the house went to auction. The new owner doest want the airstream, and gave it to me. Its in restorabe shape.Could I get a title from a bill of sale? or what should i do? I want to fix her up, but dont want to put money into something i cant get a title too.
Here in New Mexico you can apply for an abandon vehicle title. We did that very same thing with an old Motorcycle several years ago. I don't remember the details now but the motor vehicle department gave us all the info we needed at the time to get a title. It seems that we had to get some kind of "Surity Bond". I don't remember it be expensive but it did take a little time and had a few "Hoops" to jump through. I would get some sort of bill of sale from the person who gave it to you saying they had done so at no charge and wouldn't sink a penny in it until I had Title in hand. People tend to change their mind when the see the finished product.------Pieman
