Help!!! No registration

Hello everyone,

I m fairly new to the forum, I m interested in purchasing a 1968 Bambi, basically as a project. The Airstream is pretty gutted out but in good shape on the outside. The person that I want to purchase from lives in Seattle Washington, I live in California. He does not have any papers or title on the Airstream, he mentioned he uses a 3 or 10 day permit when he tows it. Is this a bad idea? This is my first time wanting to purchase an Airstream, but I'm not feeling very comfortable with the idea that it doesn't have any type of paper work. How does one protect themselves to make sure its legitimate. I could sure use some advice. If this deal doesn't work out, I will continue to search for another one.

If he has no paperwork there is no way to prove that he owns it. I would not consider buying a trailer like this.

BTW, Airstream did not produce a Bambi in 1968.

In CA, no title you can't register the trailer

About half way down this link it says you must obtain a duplicate of the title from the owner from the state the vehicle comes from to register the vehicle in California. Apparently, no title from him means you can't do a thing here.
