Help me ID this trailer
Can someone help me ID this trailer? It looks like this was made in California in the 60's. 63 or 64?
I've looked through various docs on VIN's and haven't been able to figure it out.
Is it a Bambi?

Big reach without pics of the trailer... do you have any? It might be '64 Tradewind - maybe.
The leading 1 was often used interchangeably with I (for international)
California example: O(I) 4 1(2) S 4NNN
O = landyacht package, I = International options
4 = 1964
1 (2) = double bed or 2 singles
S 6NNN = 4 digit serial number - It's possible this plate came off a larger trailer
maybe...

It's a 22 or 24 foot trailer and it looks modified. If you can measure it - Airstreams lengths include the tongue...
There's a lot here that doesn't make sense.
The serial number style is from the 60's
The segments look 60's
The curved wheel wells look fifties.
The door-in-door was last made in 64
Perhaps someone else will have more info to offer

Here are more pics.
It's pretty clean inside. It has been converted to a bar/lounge with a banquette on 3 walls and a bar with a keg fridge on the other.

That might be one of the coolest airstreams I have ever seen. Bar and a keg fridge? I would love to see the inside.

That's likely a Safari - nominally 22 feet. lengths are approximate and general rounded. Reading here: http://vintageairstream.com/photo-ar...964-safari-22/
The wheel well has been altered and although it looks cool, it's not stock for any year.
The window configuration is also odd but again, have been altered.

I have some more info. I think it was a globetrotter. It was shortened for use in a trade show. I'll get some more pics of the interior.
They plan to sell it. Does anyone have an estimate of price? Anyone interested?
It's in TX in the Dallas area.

That sure is an unusual combo. I believe those inverted "V" wheel housings were only in 1959/60. The windows look like 1964/but more like 65. Door within a door 1964 or earlier. The tongue looks very narrow and no gas bottle is a mystery.

Airstream’s are not exactly like vintage automobiles, a market where, say, a 57 Bel Air might command a higher price than a 56. Instead, the variables for airstream pricing revolve mostly around the condition of the trailer and frankly, where it’s located. For instance, trailers for sale in California might go for three or four times the price of the same trailer for sale in say, Iowa.
Further, this particular trailer has been gutted and modified for what appears to be a tradeshow or marketing trailer. This makes it less desirable for the majority the market that simply wants to buy an airstream trailer to camp in. Buying this trailer, regardless of how shiny it is, and to fix it for camping would require further investment in time when it would be cheaper to buy a camper that hasn’t been gutted and modified and polish it up.
But, if you wanted to purchase a trade show trailer that has already been modified, then this trailer might be worth looking at. However the market for such a trailer is vanishingly small. Large companies with huge marketing budgets would simply purchase and pay to have modified to their own specifications a customized trailer. But if you’re not a large company, say a local mom and pop looking to expand, then perhaps this trailer might be desirable.
Sadly, what often happens with these highly modified and Beautifully customized trailers is they are simply abandoned or let go of. At some point, and at some price point, someone will snatch them up and do some thing with them.

That is a fine thread you started thanks . . . great photos.
These "commercial Airstreams" search results reveal other interesting posts, here and there on AirForums:

Another anomaly, the tail lights are not typical for a 1964...that style is 50's.

I very much dislike to see trailers that can no longer camp. It is sad.
