Greetings 1968David! Welcome to the Forums and the world of Vintage Airstream ownership! I am sure that you will enjoy your 1964 Globetrotter for many years. The 1964 Airstreams were known for a few firsts as well as a few lasts. The UniVolt Power Converter that converts 120-Volt AC to 12-Volt DC was made standard in the 1964 models, the first official Owner's Manuals were included with the purchase of a 1964 Airstream, and the five panel front and rear end caps were introduced for 1964 among other things. The Door-Within-A-Door (screen door contained within entry door) was offered for its last model year in 1964 as were the jalousie windows beside the entry door on the longer Airstreams among other things.
You may find that you like the 1964 Globetrotter so well that you keep it long-term. When I purchased my 1964 Airstream Overlander Land Yacht International in 1995, I thought that I was just purchasing a charming, 31 year old Airstream, only about a year later, I learned that it was the same trailer that had belonged to friends of my family from 1964 through 1980. I had my first camping experience in that trailer as a five year old (sleeping in one of its hammock bunks) when the trailer was brand new. I had passed on purchasing it when our friends retired from travel in 1980 as I was still in college. It was a total shock when I learned a year after purchase that this was the trailer that I remembered from childhood. Soon, I will have owned the trailer 29 years, and I have enjoyed every one of those years. It is very nearly original as it has been used regularly its entire life and has been well maintained. The only changes have been those necessitated to keep it a functional travel trailer, but my goal has been to preserve its original charm.

1964 Airstream Owner's Manual
A comment about the Owner's Manual, it is for a 26-foot Overlander, but there were few differences between the various versions of the manual during this, its first year. Prior to 1964, Airstream had provided owners with a manilla envelope filled with installation pamphlets, and various manuals for the devices installed in the trailer. The purchaser of a new 1964 Airstream would have received that familiar manilla envelope as well as a copy of the Owner's Manual in its first edition.
There are a number of us here on the Forums with prior experience with the 1964 models, so if you encounter any problems, do not hesitate to post your questions.
Good Luck with your Globetrotter, and I hope that it serves you well for many years!
