We're in the process of buying an old Safari. Plaque says 22DS-0351. Then there's the number "260" at the bottom of the plaque. I've looked on the Airstream site and also at Vintage Airstream, but the VIN doesn't exactly fit any pattern.
Other numbers are:
DOH No.: 60877
1149
It's a Safari, Double, built in California. The serial numbers from California were...different. I know up to a certain year, the numbers were within a range for a given year. I have an errand to run, if you don't have the model year answer by the time I get back, I'll get out my decoder ring.

Thanks for the input on the VIN. That's what we thought, but since it didn't fit the pattern, weren't too sure.
Can't remember if I have to do anything to those photos before posting them, but will check that out tomorrow and try to get them up. There is definitely a lot of work coming up on the unit, but that's a whole 'nother story!

After recently buying a '77 Sovereign twin bed model, I now have discovered the numbers on the title don't match the AS. Well, at least the first character is wrong. Someone along the line mistook the first digit of the VIN as the number "1" and that's what's on the title document (different state than mine), where in fact the first digit displayed on the trailer's VIN plate is an "I" (as in India). I can't get the coach titled in my state because the title VIN and coach VIN are different.
Any thoughts???
