Cannot find VIN on 1970 21 foot airstream

I am trying to find the VIN in order to get insurance for my airstream. I found the Identification number on the nameplate next to the door. The insurance broker said that it wasn't enough numbers. Does this serve as the VIN? Thanks.

Can you post a picture of the plate? On Airstreams between 1959 and 1980 that is the serial number, stamped on the plate beside the door. The vin should also be stamped in the A frame, as well. You cam go to Airstream.com, support, to decode the serial number. Maybe time to educate your insurance broker!!.

Your insurance broker is incorrect. I have a 71 GT and it is the S/N on the plate. As stated above it is also on the right side of the A frame. It should also be on your title.

In the early 80s, VINs became a standard 17 digits. Prior to that, they varied in length.

Isn't the VIN on the title of your AS? If so, show that to your broker.

The lower number is the VIN.

The 17 digit VIN is not universal. Japanese market cars, for example, often have an 8 digit chassis number. I’ve had no trouble insuring privately imported cars in Canada.
