California DMV dilemma.

Two things,
1, if they don't send me a bill in the mail, they get no payment!

I realize this is not a smart way to look at it, but come on, they can't send a bill?

2, $222.00 for registration on a camper, REALLY??? that's highway robbery!! Pun intended, NJ is about as bad with taxes and fees but I paid a mere $23.00 fot registration, although it is a 1973.

I always pay through the DMV online access. On my last billing I noticed they changed the format. It used to be the license number and a special access code. Once those are both entered it takes you to the payment page. Now.. they ask for the license number and the last five of the vin number. The problem is my Willys jeep only has a 7 digit vin number and the last five digits make no sense apparently to the DMV... so I waited til the last minute and found myself standing in line. Thats an experience for sure.
