USAA doesn't offer RV policies and referred us to Progressive and supposedly we got a discount. I tried getting a quote online, but there isn't an RV option, so I ended up talking to the local agent who set me up and answered questions.

The State Farm covers collision and damage. When I asked USAA about coverages, I got bounced around to 5 or 6 people before I got to someone who had answers. I think since it straddles homeowners and auto not many reps know it all. It didn't give me a ton of confidence but she seemed to know what she was talking about, so I'll just go with it. I'd be interested if someone has a more definite answer. Of course if something bad happens then I'll find out (not the best approach).

It does, but only to the party you hit, not to your own trailer. Easy enough to pull out the contract and read it. I spent 20 years in the property and casualty insurance industry, and just had a total loss, so pretty familiar with contracts. In any event, just make sure youíre sure. Most people donít pay enough attention to the contract language because itís tedious and in the back of your mind you never think youíll have a significant loss and you just focus on premium. Having now been hit by a falling tree while driving on the highway, this former insurance executive pays a bit more attention.

Thanks, I think that is liability if we hit someone. I haven't seen the policy yet but I'll be sure to look through it.

For anyone in a state where West Bend Mutual writes policies, I'd strongly recommend checking out their offerings. We've got all our vehicles (Airstream included) and our house insured with them and have been extremely pleased. They are centered in the Midwest and only write in a few states though.

I think I will be checking State FarmÖ
I was searching this thread, because my State Farm rate just increased $12/month. New premium is $916/year. I was going to shop around. No claims---ever. I think it's way overpriced.

I fortunately never had many large insurance claims. My idea has always been, don't contact them until you have to. If it's a significant auto accident that's one thing. Or you may be liable. Otherwise If you can afford to pay for the repair out of pocket it'll be cheaper in the long run. The insurance company is in it for a profit and they have buildings full of people who are dedicated to getting money from you and me.

I have Geico. They bundle the auto and RV policies. My bill is $1300/6 mo.
I thought that was too much so I called Progressive yesterday.
They don't offer a bundle with an RV, but they do offer a multi vehicle discount. After setting the same limits as Geico, Progressive was more. I could get it cheaper, but only by reducing my limits substantially.
I think it's a combination of age and being in Florida. Even with a squeaky clean record and no claims, it's just high.
Many Floridians also believe the insurance commission is the taxpayer funded arm of the insurance companies, so all rates are approved.

That works out to $76/mo on your 30'. Mine is $68/mo on our 25' with $1k deductible. What is your deductible? This doesn't sound too unreasonable to me.

Btw I ended up going with Progressive. I may shop around again in a few months but for now we have fairly comprehensive coverage for around $53/month.

When we bought our used 2021 we went with National General. The agent the dealer recommended shopped it and gave us several options. National General seemed to be good for now. We are paying about $ 900.00 year for $ 1000 deductible and 500 k liability. I think I will shop it when we renew.

$12 a month? Not worth shopping. Sure your premium is higher; ours is $600 a year with National General, but I prey I never have a claim because they can hard to work with I read. We are a $1000 deductible. Wish there was a $5k option.

I am going through the hassle now since our auto (3) went up $120 a month without a single change on our end; canít wait to ad my teen driver next year. Our home policy also has doubled from two years ago. California Casualty had taken some big losses in California and OR wildfires and they are trying make it up from us.

I have even reached out to an insurance agent for a quote for the first time. He has came in with good quotes from Acuity and Progressive, and also says Nat Gen is still the best for our Airstream.

Bottom line: insurance industry is in a tailspin.

Your best source for RV Insurance is FCISinsurance.com they use underwriters like Progressive and several others. Always ask for an agreed value policy.

Depending on what state you're in, West Bend Mutual might be a good route to go. They've always been good to us and insure our home, our vehicles, and our Airstream.

Yikes, quoted a used 2020 27FBQ Globetrotter for Colorado and Progressive wants THREE times as much as me in Alabama. I know hail-storms are a problem in Colorado, but where I live they hardly ever happen.

Anyone with an AS in Colorado that's found affordable insurance?
