Warranty clarification

Greetings AS,

New owner here. Just bought a 2019 28’ Int Serenity RB and looking over the paperwork they provided after the sale. The dealer reported a 12 mos limited warranty on the trailer, but to my surprise I see a document about the 36 mos warranty. So looking at the Elite warranty, it does state 12 mos coach. Is this correct or did the Dealer misreport the actual warranty? I only ask due to the fact I wouldn’t get extended service for an additional 2 years, since the extended warranty covers 5 years from purchase and AS provides a 3 yr warranty. I’ve attached part of the contract. Thanks for the input!

The factory warranty is 3 years from purchase buying new. Our 2019 is a 3 year warranty just as yours should be.

You should not be paying "more" for a "factory" warranty.

Agreed. My question is, looking at the contract in the photo, it appears they disclosed that AS only covers for 12 mos. This is not true upon the brochure they provided after signing.

Factory warranty is 3 years.
If you purchased the extended warranty I would cancel that ASAP. It is nothing more than a profit center for the selling dealer. Total waste of your hard earned money.
I believe you have a honeymoon period on that policy that would allow you to decline it if you act fast.

Yeah, I see that. 30 days is required. But have you ever seen a 12 mos coach factory warranty? Or is this something the dealer made up?

I think that’s a mistake on the dealers part. Never seen just 12 mo before. Even the pre 2017 units had 2 years warranty coverage.

Exactly as GMFL said, it is a pure profit for very little return if ever you'd even use it at all.

Airstream is fully on the hook for defects.

Now, you go and drop a knife through your leather seat while eating, that is on you......unless that "rider" insurance covers that type of event....but is that something you'd really need/want? I am thinking not.

Get your money back...

Cancel that extended plan. Cost toooooo much. You are better saving that money and covering repairs yourself.
By then you will be a DIY pro anyway, so you can do the. Repair yourself and save some serious cash.
Lots of help here if you need it. Problems will arise with your new unit. Just know..... We got your back.

Thanks! I’ve been reading quality concerns on here. Praying that mine holds up for a while. You’d think paying that much for an AS, there’d be minimal discrepancies.

All the 'stuff' is warranted by the manufacturer. 👍

Take the warrantee money and bank it, use it for all the upgrades you just have to have down the road.🤔

If you review the factory warranty under "What is not covered" item #1 you will see that it does not cover systems such as the furnace, air conditioner, refrigerator, etc. The Airstream "Elite" warranty provides coverage for these items for six years.

We purchased the warranty when we bought our 2019 27FB International Serenity last August for the peace of mind. However, since I do have some "skills" and after getting repair estimates from independent service centers I am now considering canceling it (dealer says I should get a 90% refund) and setting that money aside in our repair fund.

Hope this helps....

We bought ours new in August 2019 and have been living it in it full time since 01/2020 when we retired to the "nomad life"...so far so good with only minor issues to address...loose hinges, etc.
