Vintage AS Insurance in Virginia

Having some issues with this. It seems that a law was just passed in Virginia (according to the Insurance agencies) that does not allow insurance companies to go over the NADA value for insuring campers. This is according to Geico, Progressive and now, Nationwide even if we get it appraised.

The current NADA value of the shiny turd is only $800. We are getting close to finishing up and really need to get our coverage up to cover the time/money put into her. Anyone in VA having issues with this or do you have a good insurance company we can try?

state farm gave me 1,500 max to fix the water tank leakage issues. i am now in the process of getting tank quotes etc.

the adjuster seemed reasonable. although the 1,000 deductable hurt.

so state farm may be able to help you.

they dont classify it as they would a garage or out building. but as a temporary trailer.

i have an 87 limited 32' AS. its our weekend getaway machine.

good luck with your insurance troubles!

Thanks Mooseman. I forgot this post was still out there. Our current policy was a bundle of coverages (we didn't trust the company anymore) we were getting rid of by May 1st. They actually cancelled one of our vehicles without our consent and we found out by accident 2 weeks prior to the end of the policy... GAH.

We ended up getting everything except the camper through one of the larger companies and then, after talking to a local rep mid month, were able to get what we needed on the AS as well through the same company and all for WELL under the other companies fees. They added the camper onto our homeowner's policy, maybe as yours is, a temporary trailer and were able to get around the NADA issue.
