Need Insurance on 71 Globetrotter

I am trying to get insurance on my 71 Globetrotter through Statefarm which we have everything else we own insured with. I was told that I needed the original MSRP to proceed. How would I find this information? What has other owners of a vintage Airstreams done or insurance companies used to get their units insured?

Howdy, we've used Farmers for years(decades?) but do have to keep in touch to get their best rates. They have an off-brand, Bristol West, that has all our vehicle stuff now. Of course the trailer is minimally insured when hooked to the TV but no comprehensive. Have a seperate policy on the '68, $2-300 a year which I think is reasonable. Hail, collision, the whole boat. Agreed value of $20K. They wanted pics of the trailer to make sure they are not insuring a project, has to be a complete trailer. Then they wanted pics of operational windows to ensure emergency egress. No appraisal needed for the current value.
Good luck, Mark D

Good ol' State Farm... Yep, I have them too. When I originally insured my trailer, they would only insure it for the value that I paid for it ($2500). Now that I have put a zillion hours into the rebuild, I asked them about upping the insurance. They told me to submit all of my receipts, and they would insure it for the grand total. Well, I went about adding up and scanning receipts, and it came to well over $20k (and I am still not finished). Have submitted the paperwork twice, but seems they have yet to up the coverage. Will have to pester them (or fire them) again one of these days.

I have read a few threads on here regarding this topic, as I recall, some others have had success getting their rebuilt trailers appraised, and the insurance company (not State Farm, as I recall) accepted that as the value.

There are some good bits of advice in this thread:

good luck!

As noted on the thread you recommended, we’ve had our insurance with Hagerty for quite awhile. Thankfully we have not had a reason to use it. I would think to get an appraisal from a reputable company would be the starting point. A thorough insurance policy is not cheap. Having to build one on your own dime isn’t either. Good luck
