I recently purchased a clean (20K miles) InterState Airstream... dealer wanted to sell me extended warranty.. price seemed very high (almost $10K for 5 years)).. Good Sam seems to have a program to cover almost anything that might come up? less than half of this with $250 deducible.

any thoughts?

This is complicated, I own a 2015 Flying Cloud it has been insured by Progressive because I got replacement cost until the trailer was five years old. I called Progressive to find out how much I would get if my trailer were totaled now I got transferred to four different people and was never comfortable with the accuracy of the different answers that I was given. This thread has helped me understand some of what to ask about but insurance is something that most of us do not know much about. You find out whether you have what you need and are dealing with a company with integrity when you have a claim. Cheapest is not what I am looking for I want to do business with a company with high integrity that can explain the policy differences and then stand behind the product. I was happy to read that Cincinnati Insurance was mentioned in one of the post. I have had my home and cars insured with Cincinnati for years I do not know if their rates are high, low, or in the middle, I don't shop them I know from experience that when I tree fell on my house years ago they were good to work with. I have a feeling that they won't insure my 2015 Airstream or I would have gone with them when I purchased it. Can anyone recommend not the cheapest but the best, that is to say an insurance company with integrity that won't pull out the "fine print" on the policy when you have a claim or that you have to negotiate with when you have a claim. That is the company that I want to do business with, please let me know if you know of a company like that.

Hi Ed. While I haven't made a claim to know how they are, I would recommend FCIS insurance and, now that you are joining the ranks of the "not new" trailers I would also look at getting an agreed value policy. It is a stand-alone policy for the trailer that, if totaled, agrees to pay you the value established that the trailer is worth either by receipt or appraisal. It does not depreciate.

Wow! That’s $2k per year. You might want to go on one of the Interstate forums and ask what they, on average, pay for maintenance/ repair.

Hi

Just about 99.9999% of all aftermarket warranties do not make any sense at all. They cost a lot and when it's time to fix something ... sorry ... not covered .... next item ... .sorry not covered ... ( I've been there as this was explained to more than one set of "not very happy" folks ...)
