Last one avail

just talked to the folks in Utah-indicated they had started with 8 of them, sold all but this one....hmmm. at any rate $38900 is the buy it now price if you pick it up in Utah. 2 went to Idaho, at least 2 to Calif, one to Fla. Couldn't write fast enough to get destinations of the others. This info conflicts a little with previous posts in this thread, so-well, make your own decisions about that.

38.9 is too far over the top for a complete rebuild (for me). Although even if an owner decided to completely rebuild, there would be a great deal of trailer that has not been damaged by the flood. But, investing 1000 hours to rebuild and probably another 10k$-(yes, I know many will say more), it becomes too cost prohibitive. Perhaps a trip to the Spokane AS dealer is in order..... One thing is for sure, If I were single, I'd be in a new AS! Sorry, toots, I know I am a spendthrift, but I am what I am.
food for thought, none-the less.
I thank everyone for the great input into this thread. I apologize for my immaturity and lack of knowledge of Forum usage when I started this thread. It has been quite a ride. Perhaps the Global Warming Gods have more weather damaged Airstreams in the future. At least those of us alive that have witnessed this thread will be forearmed and forewarned if other such trailers show up.

Hope to meet many of you as we (I) travel.
sincerely,
ol' Bill

You're an old hand on the forums now, Bill

That seems like an outrageous price to me for as much work as the trailer is going to need. I could buy a vintage trailer and spend $38k total to do everything I could imagine to it. And probably still have change left over.

2009 27 Airstream International Signature Series

Our friends in Utah have the 2009 27 Airstream International Signature Series with two days remaining on the auction. I was looking over the pictures again. They did a pretty good job cleaning all the parts you can see on this one.. even state they dropped the belly pan and dried the flooring or something like that. In this shot you can still see evidence of the mud way up on the fridge cooling coils.. You would think that someone who is willing to plunk down as much money as they are asking would question why there is mud this high up?! Thats more than light water damage.

if you take these guys at their word, you'd be getting a brand new unit with "light water damage"
that, to me, implies somebody walked inside before toweling off....

I sure hope whoever buys these gems have done their homework

My favorite part of their listing:
"This unit was in a light water loss in Woodstock, GA."

I mentioned this before but I figured it out, they are letting you know that this 27 footer left Woodstock Georgia with a little bit water that's been determined to be missing from Woodstock

Nothing like full disclosure in their description!

Ridgwayk's former 25 footer on ebay now

Ridgwayk has a reply to my question on the other thread. He spent a lot of time in it and the insurance company replaced it. I am staying away. Here is the link. 2007 AIRSTREAM SAFARI -WATER DAMAGE-BEST BUY :eBay Motors (item 270512516458 end time Jan-15-10 15:08:00 PST)

Maybe they mean as opposed to having been damaged by "Heavy Water"

You would think an informed internet savvy Airstream purchaser would see the giveaway clues of the flood damage and run from it?

Like I said in the other post, unless you specialize in Hazmat and have deep pockets I wouldn't touch this unit. I spent a lot of time in it post flood and it was disgusting.

What does it cost to list & NOT sell on e-bay?

How many ways can you spell "chutzpah"?

These guys must have wheelbarrows to carry their 'nads around.

Light water damage my shiny hiney!

Wonder if they ever heard of that thingy called the "internet" - creating a global village where it's easy to google for information about "flood damaged Airstreams" and get this whole thread?

On one level it's almost possible to feel sorry for them (I SAID "almost"!) because according to everything we know here, THEY paid too much for the units in the first place. They may merely be trying to recoup some of their losses. Hard Cheese fellas... you're supposed to be experts... you shoulda know'ed better!

Paula

Those guys doing the bidding are really smart. One guy bid himself up from $20,000 to $28,000. I guess every time he bid he decided a minute later it wasn't high enough. At a live auction they don't let you bid against yourself, but looks like ebay doesn't care.

Those coaches should have been stripped for parts and that would have been the end of it.
I bet they'll keep coming up for sale for years; hopefully, someone has the serial numbers.

No, bidder "a***t" was testing the bid put by "l***g" some time earlier, trying to see if he could "afford" the TT.

Lots of dumb bidders do it this way. On ebaY, use a "sniping" service, or jsut put your best bid out there and fageddabowdit.

Paula, I always thought hutzpah was spelled with an "H". Sheesh, shows what I know.

I'm no Ebay genius (never bid on anything there), but isn't there normally a way to post questions about the item in the open, so that others can read the questions/comments? Maybe one of us should call the dealer and tell them "we're on to them". Yeah, right. And the Easter bunny will attack them if'n they ain't honest.

I hope the buyer really is beware here. Caveat emptore Airstreamus.

Jim

It's always up to the seller to choose to disclose the questions. It would be interesting to see - I would hope people would have a lot of questions about a trailer like that.
