Does Any Company Insure A Salvaged Title (Due To Hail Damage)?

Hi, I have a wonderful 2006 28' Safari SE that's in perfect, like new condition, except it has a salvage title due to some light rooftop hail damage from long ago. It's cosmetic (just up on the roof where you can't see it from below) and doesn't affect the interior or anything at all. I absolutely love my Airstream.

Anyway, I recently purchased it used from someone, (they disclosed the salvage title) and when I went to buy insurance from Progressive, they said that they won't insure a trailer with a salvage title.

I obviously need insurance, so could you please let me know if you have an Airstream with a salvage title and if you were able to get it insured?

Which companies, if any will insure it? And if not, what should I do?

Thanks so much.

Welcome to the forum Mitch.

FYI these "salvage title insurance site:airforums.com" search results may unearth some helpful posts here on AF:

Unfortunately I don't see any bright lights above.

Have you discussed the details with Progressive? Even if they value the trailer as worth "zero dollars" will they still issue you a policy to cover liability etc. when you are towing the trailer? This is crucial IMO.

Dollars and cents:
-- Was your purchase price lower because of the salvage title?
-- What is the market value of the trailer, as a functional 2006 28' ?
-- Can you live with "losing" the value of the trailer, if there is an accident and the company does not reimburse you for the lost trailer?
-- What are the alternatives?

Good luck.

PS -- [ran out of edit time]

These wider search results may help?

It appears that some insurance companies will insure a trailer like this, but you have to "call around" to find one.

Is Progressive's position simply a total refusal to issue any kind of coverage, even an "agreed value" policy? Is your tow vehicle also insured by Progressive? If not, will your TV carrier cover the salvage title trailer as "bundle" situation?

Progressive is mentioned as a possible company for "agreed value" policies FWIW.

Good luck, and please let us know if you find insurance coverage.
