It is my understanding that the only Carrier who insures for the FULL REPLACEMENT VALUE (what you paid for it, NOT what it's worth when you have the accident) is National General. Please correct me if I am wrong. Or do I have the terminology wrong? Because when you talk to insurance companies keep in mind that they are literally speaking a language you or I do not understand.

I do not pretend to know the business but my understanding of Agreed value policies, written by many insurance companies, are they will pay the amount agreed to written in the policy. Sure, that will never be an escalated replacement cost, since the cost of these trailers climbs so much, but it will get you your money back for a few years or until an appraiser will no longer give you a value close to original cost.

Three types of insurance that apply to Travel Trailers:
1) Tow behind, which is inexpensive but only applies when the trailer is connected to the TV
2) Stand alone Trailer insurance typically based on the Actual Cash Value (Fair Market Value) at the time of an incident.
3) Agreed value based on a predetermined value established when the policy is written, the predetermined value will be used to set the premium.
Agreed value policies are used frequently for vintage trailers and Motorhomes but are becoming more popular in the age range up to about 2014. The agreed value will remain the same as long as the policy is in effect or a new agreed value is established. The predetermined agreed value will be listed in the policy and will be paid if the trailer is totaled.

Run away from Good Sam, there claims processing is borderline criminal. Check out Foremost they almost exclusively underwrite RV's.

Insurance
Dont forget, folks...insurance varies greatly by state, city, age, sex, credit score, driving record. The best we can all do is just check around and every other year do it again. Youd be surprised how much you can save by switching companies. They are all part of big conglomerates and dont know you from Adam.

We're going with USAA/Progressive, hopefully that rate will fall even further once we have the trailer paid off. They also provide "disappearing deductible" if you are a safe driver, every year without claims gives some kind of discount.

Good luck on getting ANY insurance company to ever reduce your premium ANY amount for ANY reason ANYWHERE ANYTIME. Basically, if you want them to bear your potential risk, you will have to give up your first born. And their first born. Color me cynical. Really cynical. And realistic.

2020 AS Atlas coach insured through Farm Bureau Insurance with $2,500 deductible. I insured it for the sticker price of $235,000 and I also have my other vehicles and home through them. I also included the coach in the $2,000,000 umbrella. My rate for one year is just over $1,300.

They don't know you from Adam and don't care about you, just keep paying those premiums and hope you don't have to file a claim. DENIED. Don't settle/abrogate until YOU ARE SATISFIED. Get a lawyer if you have to in the event of an event.

I have the same, but aaa said the trailer is covered only while being towed. Do you know anything about that? Also my Argosy is a 1976. They never asked for an appraisal.

If you are only covered while actually towing, that is not much protection for you and your investment in the trailer. The peril to the insurance company (and you of course) is likely greatest when towing, but that is probably less than 1% of the time when a loss to you could actually occur: vandalism, breaking and entering, a tree falling on it, hailstorm, tornado, electrical fire, on ad infinitum. If AAA is not covering the trailer 24/7/365 from whatever perils are possible (assuming you are carrying comprehensive) I would RUN, not walk away from AAA. For trailer coverage, and any other items on which you are throwing your money away to them.

You have to continually change insurance companies in order to get a fair deal. Their business model calls for raising their premiums 15% per year. They get away with it because its time consuming and complicated for people to shop around. But there is a lot of money to be saved if you can get yourself to do it.

Has not been true with USAA for the 50 years I have been a member. While insurance rates have increased for everything, USAA has consistently beat the pants off my other options...for cars and trucks. Not so for my Airstream, but then they throw that off to Progressive.

That's why I ditched USAA. They throw the Airstream to Progressive and it does not qualify for a bundled price for three policies. GEICO bundled all three.

I have tried bundling with GEICO, Progressive, and some others but in the end USAA's car rates are so low, for me, that the bundles never work. As a result, I have Airstream with Progressive( used to have Nationwide until rates increased) and I have home with someone else(hurricane coverage). Each year my agents want to bundle in the cars, but the total rates never beat the separate rates. I think part of the reason for me is that I need to have named storm, hurricane, coverage.

Sure they will. In fact I know I'm paying $200 extra per year simply because my deductible is $500 (lender requirement.) I'll shop around some more when we have the trailer paid off, first step will be to call existing carrier and see if they'll match the competition.
