Called several insurance companies: USAA/Prog, Goodsam/NG, Allstate

Shopped for new insurance on our 2019 FC 28RBT, looked like this:
- Full replacement coverage
- $500 deductible (mandated by lienholder)

USAA (Progressive)
- $1350/year with $1k deductible [Can't get this though]

- $1550/year with $500 deductible

Goodsam (National General)
- $3k/year

Allstate
- $2k/year

We're going with USAA/Progressive, hopefully that rate will fall even further once we have the trailer paid off. They also provide "disappearing deductible" if you are a safe driver, every year without claims gives some kind of discount.

Congrats on the new rig!

Have you tried discussing deductible with the lender? Or I guess it’s too late.
We raised the deductible on our 23D (when we had it) to $2K and the premium dropped in half.

If the lender didn’t think you were good for the $2K deductible then they wouldn’t have made the loan.

BTW , how do you like your 28RBT? We took delivery of ours in Oct and love it.

I have Progressive and it is way cheaper; $45 a month. It is dependent upon how much you would be using the camper. I suppose if you were using it full time or 6 mos a year that rate may be what Progressive charges.

I have AAA for all my vehicles and trailer. The AS cost me $180 a year for insurance when combined with the auto insurance. You need to add the trailer to your auto insurance.

Interested to hear all the quotes you received. We have a Progressive Insurance Policy through our independent agent, and it costs much less than you list. We have a $125 deductible. And we have full purchase price replacement cost for the first few years. I assume your quotes are for physical damage only, since liability is usually free by adding your trailer to your auto policy. We have a 2017 Tommy Bahama 27.

Those of you adding the trailer to your auto insurance policy for next to nothing need to check your policy carefully. On mine, the trailer is covered for comprehensive, liability and collision ONLY while it is being towed by my covered TV. When it is parked, there is NO coverage at all. My 1986 Sovereign has a book value of $6500 so I can live with it. If I had a new trailer, I’d have LOTS more coverage.

Some Ins Co. that includes AS in a policy that home auto etc. all in one, the AS only at low book value. I have this kind of policy that also includes liability for other farms. The AS value less than $2000 high deductable, refused agreed value w/out insp. by there appraiser that has been out of bus. over 10 yrs they refused to budge. Now have progressive on AS agreed value $18000 $400 per. yr. w/$250 deductable, no other ins co. that low plus had claim $4000 first yr. renewal only up $50. Make sure all in one policy covers more than low book price.

MAKE SURE when you call USAA that you want to insure with them, not Progressive.

USAA - 85.00 for 6 months including road service etc. 500 deductible.

Progressive wanted $650 for 6 months.

Higher than what I have been quoted by Nationwide. I'm in the process of buying a new 2019 Intl Signature 28RBQ, so very similar trailers.

My quote is $871 a year with $500 deductible on comprehensive and collision coverage. I get a few discount as I have my auto and homeowners with them and requires <30 days of use per year. This is not full replacement as they will depreciate the trailer over time. You may need something different that increases your rates.

Be careful. Adding your trailer to your auto policy means double exposure for accident history. Sure the companies talk to each other, but they also want your buisness. They will bargain rates based on risk.
