2008 27FB Classic Total Loss Question

Our trailer was a "total loss" by insurance due to hail damage. They've given us a fair price for the pay out, but we are wondering about purchasing back from salvage, and then subsequently in the future (we intend to use it for a couple years), selling it.

Does anyone have any experience with selling a trailer that has a total loss title? The trailer is in mint condition otherwise, as far as we can tell no damage besides aesthetic (and even then, the dents are hard to see unless the light shines just right)

Many have done that, and slight hail damage does not seem to inhibit the sale of there Airstreams much. Look around the forums for other opinions on hail damage...

The only caveat would be to check with your State's vehicle title office (DMV or whatever it is called) to see how that will affect your plans. If you plan to simply live in it as a tiny house and never have it go on the road again you probably will be fine. If you will someday want to sell it as a travel trailer (meaning with a license plate) you may run into problems. Some States will issue a rebuilt title after an inspection, while others say once it has a salvage title that's all it can ever have, and getting insurance on a salvage-titled vehicle can be a problem, since the insurance company has already paid for it. A couple of hours on the telephone might be worth your time.
