Would I be paying too much for this 1981 Excella 27'?

Hi - I am looking at a 27' 1981 Excella II that is twin bed and rear bath. The owner has owned it for a little over a year (2 previous owners) and had extensive service done last year (new Endurance tires, new furnace, resealed, plumbing issues fixed etc). She provided the invoices and I confirmed with the AS maintenance department. They are a 5-rivet dealer. They said they did a thorough review and found no floor softness and took care of what issues there were so it should be good to go. I do see some darkness in the righthand back cabinet but doesn't actively look wet.

The inside is mainly original in finishes and nature. The flooring looks to be hardwood.

Would a price of $24500 be reasonable?

I want to be wise with our purchase. We aren't interested in a major renovation - would plan to live with it for the foreseeable future.

ETA - we would be new to Airstream but not to RVing - we currently own a 3124 Trailmanor.

Well, it's been checked out.She put some $$$ into it, with a reputable dealer.Its a 40 year old trailer.
With the current market, maybe not a bad price.

Take a LOT of photo's and post them here for opinions that will be more helpful..
Have the axles been replaced? At 40 they should be.
I know from experience there will be many other 'fix's' that will appear down the road.

As Robert Cross said, axle replacement is probably in the very near future for this trailer. Also consider the fridge, A/C, hot water heater, converter, and other smaller things as possible replacement very quickly. After 40 years, any and all of these items are likely to quit working at any time. If you are able to do the work yourself the cost is not quite as large. Factor in the costs of doing the above when you consider purchase. You could easily spend another 10 grand in repairs. There is an Inspection form available on this site. Take it with you when you look at the trailer. Good Luck!!

My two cents worth: I regard '81 as kind of the nadir of Airstream quality control. The company had sold to Thor two years before, and costs were being cut. This 81 almost certainly has a particle-board subfloor, which probably is at some level of decay. Not sure when the switch to a different skin allow was made, but it was about then. Also, take a look at drain pipes. If they're grey, then they're original and probably due to disintegrate.
