what’s Worth 34’

What would be an approximate valve of a 1985 34’ AS the unit has been sitting for most of it life in Florida on RV site body is clean no major dents and all interior is original New AC all other appliances are original and in working condition? Tires are dry rotted but will replace and repair wheel bearings and brakes as required.
The center front window guard is also missing.
Unit is clean inside, no oders or mold.

It all depends. Assume you need $3k or so worth of axles. Clear coat should be near non-existent. I don't think I'd pay more than 15-20k.

I would not pay 20K for an 85. A couple of years ago I bought my 93 road ready 34 with a upgraded interior and everything working for 20K.

My axles were and still are fine.

Also 34s hold their value more than other models.
There are less around so a base price is harder to figure.

My big question would be how is the frame and what you can't see?

If it really has been sitting the axles are probably bad. My 2002 was moved twice a year and the axles had lost about half of their movement. Measure from the wheel center to the fender edge. Jack it up and measure again. Should be around 2-1/2", at least for Henschen and Dexter axles.

At Land Yacht Harbor Airstream Park in Melbourne, Florida there are about 85 or so older 34' triples that have been at this park for years sitting in one spot. As they are slowly being sold off they range from $8k to mid $20k. Pre 1995 models are narrow body and go for the lower end and the newer post 1995 wide body go for upper price range. If it has been sitting a long time (say 10 plus years) new axles are in order at $3k + or -. 6 new tires is going to run $600.00 to $1,000.00 depending on what level you buy. Axles take a set after so many years. Yep, you can tow it away but it will ride awful on the original axles.


Florida sun will also destroy all rubber window seals, skylights, vent fan covers, AC covers, ect. Mechanically the water heater, furnace, tanks, plumbing, are all going to need attention.


I am just completing a 4 month stay at Land Yacht Harbor so I have seen several purchased and pulled away this season. I considered buying one but the amount of time and money needed to bring it back to any kind of decent condition was just not worth it. Good luck with your decision.

If i would purchase the 34
Assuming the axles are bad could the trailer be towed 1000 miles.
I would make on site minimum repairs to brakes wheel bearings and of course replace tires.

The axles become "bad" by loosing their springiness. This would mean a harsher ride on the trailer. You might pop a few rivets but if you keep to good roads you should be OK for one tow.

I will make offer see what unfolds from here.
If accepted I will take 2 days avoid heavy traffic times and take time. It would be difficult to purchase axles transport here then replace axles with out having jacks, stands, tools and a paved place to work.
